As a founding member, I was tasked with creating the visual identity with which we would endeavor to serve our community with printed apparel. "Gear" also has the colloquial meaning of "the clothing you are wearing," but as there are a great many apparel printing shops with a t-shirt shape in the identity, I wanted to lean a touch more literal. Incorporating the button shape into the center was my way of tying it back.
